Nepal is one of the most beautiful, and poor, countries in the world. With the Himalayan mountains as a backdrop, Nepal is home to almost 30 million people. The economy of Nepal is based in agriculture and tourism, with mountain climbing bringing in over $100 million a year to this poverty stricken country. The average person in Nepal makes around $500-800 dollars a year, depending upon their employment. In 2015 the country was struck by two massive earthquakes, and in 2017 there was extensive flooding. These disasters led to the loss of housing, jobs, and economic opportunities. The non-profit organization, COMPASSION WITHOUT BORDERS (CWB) is trying to help Nepal get back on its feet. CWB is beginning a new women's handicraft group in Bhaktapur in Kathmandu, Nepal. Handicrafts are handmade items that are of excellent quality and craftsmanship. The CWB group will make such items as mittens, scarves, purses, caps, clothing, and bath supplies (like soap holders). This group will provide an opportunity for the women to make money and be able to meet the daily needs of their families. CWB needs funds to rent a work space, purchase supplies, and do some advertising. Projects like this have been very successful up in the mountain regions and has helped many families from becoming homeless. CWB needs your help to help the people of Nepal. Please join us!
